That's right, I went to Switzerland.

This is Hippolyte. He's a pretty cool guy, and being from the Ivory Coast, he speaks French. Works out nicely for me, because I get to practice.

Statue right by the bridge as you come into town from the train station

On our way up to the cathedral, I saw a picture, then took it. There ya go.

Stained glass in the cathedral

Golden engraving on a marble thingamajig. It's in Latin, I can't read it. Yet.

Both a sundial and a traditional clock. This is the cathedral and we climbed to the top of the tower.

Believe it or not, this isn't a self portrait. Hippo (ee-po) took another one, but I like how I'm peeking into this picture. Yes, I really was this high up. yes, I went higher.

I couldn't believe it, but Hippo thought it was fun to lean over the railing backwards while I took his picture.

I am standing on the highest possible point you can reach in this tower. I believe I was telling Hippo to take the picture, because I wanted to get down ASAP.

It rained for a while, hence the wicked awesome hair. I haven't cut it since 30.August.2006. Oh, this is in Starbucks, where a medium caramel macchiato cost me 7.40 Swiss Francs. That's 4.55€ or $5.98.

Hippo sitting opposite me

This is almost the exact same picture that was in the tourist map we got.

Naturally I had to prove I was there.

And Hippo, too!

Just after the tourist-map picture, we walked a little farther and I saw this. The picture was different in my head, but I couldn't make my camera take a picture through my eyes, so this is as good as it gets.

A nice Swiss couple took our picture along the Rhein River. We later met them after we had crossed the one bridge and they had crossed the other. That is, we were walking in opposite directions and we met them twice going in the rectangle.

20 Swiss Francs. That's 12.30€ or $16.15

10 Swiss Francs. 6.15€ or $8.08. Notice how everything on the bills is written in four languages. Switzerland's official languages are German (Swizerdutch), French, Italian, and Romansh.

Hippo trying to reason with the young boy and get him to wear some clothes.

We went left here, in case you were wondering.

Very nice.

This one shows a little more industry. I have to say that Basel is very beautiful. Hope you enjoyed my pictures, feel free to leave a comment.

I love the picture with Hippo reasoning with the Statue. I actually laughed out loud a bit. Also the sign pointing left. I'm glad you went left, who knows what could have happened.
Have I ever told you how jealous I am?!
I just returned from Basel on 28th Feb 2008. I wish I had taken more pictures than I did. I went solo, so no one took my pic (darn!), but I was there and am still recouperating from airport ineptitude.
